David Archuleta is arguably one of the most memorable top contenders from American Idol. After he walked away from the 2008 season as 1st runner up, he met with immediate professional success. His first single, “Crush,” sold more than 2 million digital copies to become double platinum. Three months later, his self-titled album, David Archuleta, sold more than 900,000 copies worldwide. With a faithful social media following (3.5 million Facebook followers, 1.1 million on Twitter, and almost 1 million followers on Tik Tok), David has toured all over the U.S., Canada, Asia and even in the Middle East.
Through all that, David was dealing with a huge internal conflict between his spiritual identity and his sexual orientation. In 2021, David came out as queer to the LGBTQ community and continues to navigate his identity. During this time, he also had vocal cord surgery, which left him unable to speak much for 3 months, resulting in a period of self-reflection. In the fall of 2022, David revealed to Good Morning America that he was experiencing a faith crisis and stepping away from the Church of Latter Day Saints, having been a Mormon his whole life.
That was then, this is now... 2023, the year of Archuleta. He just completed a run on The Masked Singer, again hitting the covetted !st Runner Up spot. But even though Bishop Briggs won the top spot, David walked away with the most love. The normally quippy and non-serious judge Ken Jeong was brought to tears when David's identity was revealed. After David shared of his journey, the rest of the audience was in tears as well. Today we talk to David and play his new single UP, "a song about finding the strength you didn’t know you had in you. And replacing any fear and hate with love. Especially self love.”

Cory Allen has made history. His recently released book, Breaking Free: A Saga of Self-Discovery by a Gay Secret Service Agent is the first book released from a gay federal agent in the United States in 30 years, and the first ever from a Secret Service Agent.
Cory is our guest today. He served as a closeted police officer in a para-military world for years. He went federal, hoping for more protections as a gay man. In the Secret Service he took on high-level protective assignments around the world, including guarding U.S. presidents. He was the first gay agent to demand equal rights for his husband following the SCOTUS rulings.
Breaking Free: A Saga of Self-Discovery by a Gay Secret Service Agent is a deeply personal, candid, and vulnerable dive into the life of a gay man navigating law enforcement, government, and his own turbulent love life. A Secret Service Agent in the Obama era, he cracks open themes of identity, gay marriage, discrimination, love, sex, and finding peace and balance.
Released by NFB Publishing out of Buffalo, NY in March 2023, the book is carried by all major outlets including Amazon. Breaking Free is also available at OuttoProtect.org, a non-profit educating law enforcement on the needs of their LGBTQ+ citizenry and empowering LGBTQ+ officers; and by IEFPA.org, the International EMS and FF Pride Alliance.

Today we honor the Queens of Rock and Roll. The supreme Queen, Tina Turner, passed this week and we pay tribute to her.
We also will be launching the world premiere of Glistening by Grace DeVine . Known for their evocative lyricism, Grace with ethereal vocals, combines their artistic prowess with a message of inclusivity and self-acceptance. “Dont gotta be a woman, don’t gotta be a man. We just gotta keep glistening.” They sing. The song invites listeners on a transformative journey as it encapsulates the essence of Pride.
We also celebrate the true women pioneers of Rock and Roll, the original Queens... a group known as FANNY. Their story is the subject of a new documentary just launced on PBS called FANNY: The Right to Rock. As the first all-female rock act to record an album for a major record label, FANNY was the first all-female rock act to rise to real prominence in the US and Europe.
Our focus guest is film maker Bobbie Jo Hart. She is an award winning American/ Canadian documentary filmmaker with Adobe Productions International, based in Montreal, Canada. With a career that has spanned 25 years,on subjects ranging from women’s professional soccer and tennis to classical music, comedy, dance and manic depression. Her documentary films have the most common thread of revealing untold stories of marginalized girls and women, weaving universal threads of dreams, family, love, loss, happiness, sadness, success, failure and determination. Her intimate, cinema verité style results in thought- provoking films that ultimately celebrate our shared humanity.

The fascist-leaning arm of the Republican Party is moving fast and hard against LGBTQ kids. As concerned advocates warn of "blood on your hands", the power brokers in many red states blatantly do not care.
Who can at risk LGBTQ youth turn to? The logical answer, the advocacy group most funded by the LGBTQ concerned population, is the Trevor Project. However, due to issues we will review in our special report by Brody Levesque today, that organization is falling down on its ability to help kids when they are at a crisis point.
We also will be talking to Lance Preston, Founder and Executive Director of the Rainbow Youth Project USA, a social welfare organization that promotes the health, safety, and wellness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual young people throughout the United States. We will be talking about the real-life experiences of kids persecuted by the new oppression being put upon them. We will be talking about the help they need, the hlep they are not getting, and what can be done.

SCRAPS is not a film you can see... yet, but if filmmakers Ryan Nordin and Matthew Francis have anything to say about it, it is a film you will be able to see soon.
The film is set in the summer of 2003 in rural Montana, shy art student Gus Shepard and rebellious skateboarder Bridger Owens navigate unexpected young love and harsh small-town judgement while selling handcrafted boards to a gang of Livingston skaters.
Today we talk to writers and producers Ryan Nordin and Matthew Francis. The story of SCRAPS is based on Ryan's own Montana coming out story.
At a young age, while growing up in Minnesota, Ryan found a passion for the outdoors and film. He got his start working as a visual effects artist, working with brands like Samsung, Oakley, Hyundai, and ESPN, before transitioning to directing. Ryan is currently based in Bozeman, Montana and is a founder of Mission Ranch, a production company . Matthew taught himself how to write scripts, direct, film, host, edit, and market digital video by launching his own cooking youtube channel and founding FrancisFilm, LLC. Matthew has directed and produced over 2,200 recipe videos for multiple major media companies including BuzzFeed, Tasty, Viacom, Jikoni, FOOD & WINE, EatingWell, Allrecipes, Southern Living, and more. He is the creator and host of his food interview show Dinner Views which has 2 seasons.

He is a NYT Bestselling author. He is a film producer. He danced across screens in Dance With The Stars. He discussed penises with Larry David. He is arguably the most well known transgender man in America, and possibly the world.
He is Chaz Bono, and today we are going to be talking to him about his new film Bury the Bride .
Bury the Bride is a thriller in which a bachlorette party ends up in a desert shack in the wilderness, far from any other living being, and certainly too far from anyone being able to hear you scream. What could go wrong?
Chaz is both executive producer and a character actor in the film.

The Netflix series "Warrior Nun" is a powerhouse tour-d-force of woman empowerment while being a provacateur of deeply traditional religious mythologies. "After waking up in a morgue, an orphaned teen discovers she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo-Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns." The "demon-hunting nuns" have a foundational and guiding mother figure, aptly named Mother Superion, played by acclaimed actress Sylvia De Fanti. Sylvia is our guest today.
The ground-breaking series is highly regarded by critics, and has established a deeply loyal following who call themselves Nunkind or Halo Bearers (we will explain on the show). The second season scored 100% from critics and 99% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, a record high for a Netflix original series. When Netflix did not order a third season, a movement has exploded. #SaveWarriorNun trended immediately following the news (it has been tweeted more than 5 million times). More than 107,000 people have signed an online petition to renew the show for a third season.
Called "one to watch" by People Magazine, Sylvia has appeared on the series Empire and Medici and starred for a season on Itally's longest running series Incantesmo.
Sylvia is a pioneer in both theater and human rights. She has co-founded cultural center Angelo Mai , theater company Bluemotion, and Teatro Valle Occupato, and organization the New York Times called "a maverick institution established to empower Italy's workers in the fields of art, entertainment and culture."
