GBH News Center For Investigative Reporting launched a report about boy victims of the Sex Trade industry. Many activists who are tackling the abuse of the sex trade industries often ignore the boy victims, and they are often under reported. It is estimated that boys make up at least 30% of the victims, and many of them are boys of color and LGBT.
The Boston public media outlet GBH News did their report in two insallments and today we have one of the investigative reporters as our guest. Jenifer B. McKim is a senior investigative reporter at GBH News.. She focuses on social justice issues, including criminal justice, child welfare, sex trafficking and personal debt for print, digital and broadcast. McKim’s investigations have earned numerous awards, including the national Edward R. Murrow Award, a Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism and the Freedom of Information Award from the New England First Amendment Coalition. She was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service.
In the first installment of the series, McKim and fellow reporter, Phillip Martin bring us the perspective of two New England men who survived commercial sexual exploitation as children and are now taking the rare step of speaking out. The second installment dives more into the relationship between sex trafficking and race and centers around Jose Alfaro. As a homeless gay teen, Alfaro was offered a place to stay by a much older man. It seemed like an answer to his prayers, until this man, Jason Gandy, turned out to be a sex trafficker.

Florida and West Virginia are the latest states to pass anti-trans legislation. In Texas, their senate passed a bill that would classify providing gender affirming health care to transgender minors as child abuse. Thirty-plus states are attacking trans gender youth in a full scale war instituted by the Republican party.
Today we talk about fighting back. Our special guest roster includes Alphonso David, an accomplished and nationally recognized LGBTQ civil rights lawyer and advocate, and the president of the Human Rights Campaign. Mr. David is the first civil rights lawyer and the first person of color to serve as president of HRC in the organization’s nearly 40-year history. We also welcome our friend Brandon Wolf, Central Florida Development Officer and Media Relations Manager, of Equality Florida. Besides being a regular guest on our show, Brandon is a nationally-recognized advocate for LGBTQ issues and gun violence prevention. He found his passion for social change following the shooting at Pulse Nightclub. He is a frequent contributor on state and national media outlets, having published opinion columns in USA Today, CNN digital and Orlando Weekly. He has also brought awareness to the issues in HuffPost, Metro Weekly, and on television outlets such as MSNBC, CNN, and more. Brandon received the Voice for Equality Award at the 2018 Orlando Gala.
The fight is on... and we are ready.

"Trump is out, but American democracy is on the ropes and teetering on the brink of competitive authoritarianism controlled by theocrats and oligarchs. With its cherished institutions hobbled, political norms trampled, guardrails severely damaged, and body politic divided by chasms of race and geography, can the U.S. survive another administration dedicated to establishing a de facto single party rule?" This is the question posed by the new book,American Fascism: How the GOP is Subverting Democracy, by author Brynn Tannehill
Today we have Brynn with us to discuss what the characteristics of fascism are, if they are applicable to the base of the GOP today, and what that means for us should they succeed in establishing permanent minoritarian rule.
Brynn is also the author ofEverything You Want to Know About Being Trans, But Were Afraid to Ask. She is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and Air Force Institute of Technology, with degrees in Computer Science and Operations Research. As a Naval Aviator, she did four deployments to locations in Kosovo, the Middle East, and North Atlantic. Mrs. Tannehill continued working in defense research after leaving active duty, and currently works as a senior analyst at a defense think-tank in the Washington.

Anti-trans laws, particularly ones going after trans-teens specifically, are being passed by Republicans across the country. Analyst Brynn Tannehill, author of Everything You Want to Know About Being Trans But Were Afraid to Ask, is on hand to discuss the horror show that is the GOP trans platform.
Also-- we have the star and the director of Navajo Joe Films' latest work Nobody's Boy ! Director Harrison J. Bahe and actor Daniel Estrada are in the house! Harrison is a member of the Yavapai Nation, a 950-member Native American tribe that calls Central Arizona’s upper Sonoran Desert home. Located to the northeast of Phoenix within Maricopa County, Arizona, the 40-square mile reservation is a small part of the ancestral territory of the once nomadic Yavapai people, who hunted and gathered food in a vast area of Arizona’s desert lowlands and mountainous Mogollon Rim country. He works to document the tribe’s cultural and history.
His film company Navajo Joe Films has produced hundreds of short films which highlight the LGBTQ Native American experience.
