Good luck, Florida. Your teen agers are mad as hell, and there is not much more they are going to take.  As the heinously ignorant "Don't Say Gay" bill (named "Parental Rights in Education" bill sticking with the Republican tradition to label hate with benign naming conventions) awaits a signature by Florida's homophobic governor, Florida's teens are not having it. Several days ago, there were "massive" walk outs in numerous Florida schools across the state. Today, our special guests are Cameron Driggers and Alysa Vidal, two of the instigators of those wallk outs.
The Florida bill reads that it "prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels." We will discuss the proposed law and its dangerous facets today.
Cameron and Alysa also spearhead the teen activist group "Recall Flager School Board" that formed to protest the banning of anti-racism and LGBTQ themed books by their school.

Welcome to Journey with Stephanie!  Tonight acclaimed psychic and healer, Stephanie Gerard interviews Jordan Christine Gray!
About Jordan:  "Even though I've only been using my gifts professionally in my adult years, I consider myself to have always been a healer. It is something that is deep within each and every one of us and in this lifetime is something I have chosen to embrace. I started exploring energy and having many spiritual encounters at a very young age, giving me the awareness early on that there was another reality I could tap into. I began seeing an energy healer when I was 13 and saw her every month for 13 years, until I was able to provide my own healing. I received my BA in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles in 2010 and then went on to receive certifications as Reiki Master, Master Teacher, and Crystal Healer by 2013. I then married a wonderful man, had two beautiful children, and moved from Los Angeles, to Seattle, and eventually ended up In Northern Idaho.
I started working as a professional healer in 2017. I worked out of a metaphysical shop in the greater Seattle area where I also taught crystal, chakra, and meditation classes. I moved to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho in 2020 where I am currently living. I do in-person sessions and virtual sessions, giving me the flexibility to work with people all over the world. I follow a daily spiritual, mental, and physical practice, in order to maintain a higher frequency and to be able to be of my best service to myself, others, and to the world. I consider myself a lightworker and believe that my mission in this life is to assist others in finding and spreading their own light so that we all can experience true peace, love, and joy."

The governor and attorney general of Texas are ruthlessly persecuting families with trans kids. They have declared that if a family supports their transgender child, that they are to be investigated for child abuse, and the child is to be removed from their home.
Two disctrict attorneys for the counties that include Dallas and Houston have refused to adhere to the order. A judge in a third county put a hold on the order for that particular county. The order is active in all other Texas counties and families are being targetted.
Today we talk to Ricardo Martinez, the CEO of Equality Texas.  Equality Texas is the main organization on the front lines in Texas fighting for the rights of LGBTQ+ families.  Ricardo joined Equality Texas as its CEO in December of 2019. Prior to Equality Texas, Ricardo served at Stand for Children where he lead a national organizing and constituent engagement effort for five years. Immediately prior to his tenure at Stand for Children, he spent several years with GLSEN; initially as Senior Manager of Field Services on the national team in NYC and later as the President of the Phoenix Chapter. Under Ricardo’s leadership, GLSEN Phoenix was an instrumental coalition partner in overturning Arizona’s “no promo homo” law, which prohibited K-12 schools from including LGBTQ representation, content, and history in their curriculum.
Equality Texas emerged in 2006 from the previous Lesbian/Gay Rights Lobby of Texas. It reflected the strength and diversity of the coalition galvanized during the campaign to defeat proposition #2, Texas’ so-called “defense of marriage” amendment to the state constitution. Equality Texas is now the state’s leading advocacy organization defending the rights of LGBTQ Texans against attack, with tens of thousands of members across the state.

Abused kids becoming lost in America's foster care system is a horror story that our country deals with today. Their real needs, pain and experience gets lost in the govermental bureaucracy and under-staffed, under-funded social services agencies. The role of a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) was first conceived in 1977 by Judge David Soukup in Seattle, who wanted to find a way for the court to obtain better information about the needs of children in foster care. A CASA stays with the child even if they are moved to other homes. They are a constant on which the child can rely. CASA volunteers advocate for a foster child or sibling group in court, school, and in the community to ensure their needs are met.
Today we talk to Matt Morscheck, who has volunteered as a CASA with San Diego based Voices for Children since 2019. Matt is a professional counselor, coach, and trainer who specializes in career counseling, developing leaders and managers, and talent development consulting. He is is Vice President, Executive Education and Development at LPL Financial, where he also is the sponsor of their corporate PRIDE organization. He is an advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion and volunteers with The San Diego LGBT Community Center.
Founded in 1980, Voices for Children (VFC) transforms the lives of abused, neglected, and abandoned children in foster care in San Diego by providing them with trained, volunteer CASAs. VFC believes that every child deserves a safe and permanent home, and strives to provide a CASA volunteer to every child in the foster care system who needs one. Last year, VFC CASAs and staff served more than 3,600 foster children across San Diego and Riverside Counties.
